Badili Education Centre is a community based education and life skills provision center founded by pioneer members of the Badili Education Centre CBO, under whose auspices the school is initiated, implemented and managed. The BADILI EDUCATION CENTRE CBO was registered formally under the Ministry of Gender, Sports, Culture and Social Services the in the year 2009. Amongst these pioneer members was the founding Director,  Mr. Meshack Adiedo, who has vast experience in the provision of Education, life skills and vocational training services, ranging from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to lower and upper primary .This efforts have been recognized, with Mr. Meshack being elected as the Nairobi Alternative Provision of Basic Education & Training(APBET) – Complementary Schools Association of Kenya (CSAK) Nairobi County Coordinator, and the national Programs Coordinator for the same.

The Centre is situated in Dandora Gitari Marigu “C” slum in Njiru District , Nairobi County, and Republic of Kenya and provides both the 8-4-4 Curriculum ,which is being phased out, and the  new  Kenya Competence Based Curriculum (CBC). The primary beneficiaries of Badili Education Centre are the children of the informal settlement of Dandora Slums.

Badili Education Centre CBO was initiated as a response   to the need for a community based intervention that would provide  integrated ,quality ECDE education and life skills support program involving offering the Kenya Approved primary curriculum of primary education, a Nutrition & Wellness program, and a Rehabilitation & Psycho-Social Support program for traumatized pupils attending the school. An economic strengthening program for guardians/parents of the very poor parents/guardians with children under the programs was also embedded within the concept design. Badili Education Centre is the CBO’s key project.

Though the school is founded under the auspices of the Badili Education Centre CBO, the school is working towards meeting the laid down APBET guidelines   to facilitate registration of the school with the Ministry of Education, Republic of Kenya. This informs the expansion, renovation and even constructions of new infrastructure within the current space as part of Badili Education Centre’s Strategy Road Map (2021-2025)

Badili Educational Centre started with 10 learners, in a rented room, growing to currently over 146 pupils as of 2025. The children fall into the OVC (Orphaned and Vulnerable) category, most of their guardian families living under a high incidence of poverty, way below the UN $1 per day poverty line, from within the Gitari Marigu “C” Slums, and the nearby Dandora dumpsite. The Rehabilitation & Psycho-Social Support Program has facilitated the rehabilitation, care & reintegration back into normal school life for of 24 learners from the Dandora dumpsite families and 11 street children in the past three years.

A needs assessment  and a baseline  survey facilitated revealed that these children are intelligent and have great academic potential, which can translate into great impact in the society if enabled in a conducive, enabling environment. The testimonies of those who have passed through the center , onwards towards upper primary, secondary  and university education and are now productive citizens, is proof of this.

Currently, the Centre has 146 pupils, 9 teachers and 3 non-teaching staff .As part of its restructuring plan, the CBS intends to expand these key staff to a total of 20, (13 teachers, 2 Security personnel, 2 cooks, 2cleaner, and secretary) to serve the institution well.
